Agitators block movement of Arunachalee vehicles in Simen Chapori
ITANAGAR, Feb 22: Hundreds of vehicles bearing Arunachal Registration number plates are stranded at Simen Chapori Bridge and Dipa Village by Nepalis of the area today in retaliation after a death of Nepali youth in Pasighat few days back. However it was reported late evening that the stranded people have been allowed to move.
The alleged killers are reported to be under police custody in Pasighat.
Amongst other, Parliamentary secretary for Fisheries JK Panggeng, Deputy Commissioner, Lower Subansiri District Sadhana Deori and Er. Annong Perme were there.
The agitators reportedly manhandled some of the Arunachalee people on the spot. Though Police force from Assam was called in, they could not execute any action against the agitated mob.
Later, a few Arunachal Police team also arrived at the spot. However, the situation remained volatile till the filling of this news.
AAPSU President Takam Tatung has called on the government to hold talks with its Assam Counterpart so that such situations do not occur again. He said that Arunachaless are being repeatedly harassed by people of the neighbouring state. He further said that such repeated actions from Assam would lead to further escalations and would have far reaching repercussions. He further said that Assam should keep in mind that a large number of people from Assam are working in the state.
Tobom Dai, the AAPSU spokesperson who is among those stranded has said that instead of resorting to such violence, people should let law take its own course. He said that unnecessary harassment of Arunachalees would not solve the problem. Dai further said that he was in touch with student Unions of Assam to solve the embargo.

Expedite utilisation of funds under NRHM: Byaling
ITANAGAR, Feb 22: Health & Family Welfare Minister Tanga Byaling has stressed the
need to provide adequate funds for the health sector and called upon health administrators
to expedite utilization of funds received from the Centre to facilitate further receipt
of financial resources to this resource-
He was addressing a meeting of the Deputy Commissioners, District Medical Officers and District RCH officers convened by him at DHS Seminar Hall to review the financial performance of districts under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) today.
Byaling informed that he had submitted additional schemes to Govt. of India for various health projects. He advised the health officials to include all admissible schemes under NRHM in their action plans, highlight all genuine issues to Govt. of India in right earnest and ensure that all the sanctioned schemes are implemented well in time.

The Minister also announced that an exhaustive health policy document is being prepared in which one chapter on NRHM would be incorporated. He further stressed the need for setting up an engineering cell in the Department of Health & FW to expedite execution of civil works sanctioned under various programmes of the department.
While extending his wholehearted support for the welfare and progress of the department, he appealed to the health officials and managers to work with dedication in tandem with the policies of the Govt. The Parliamentary Secretary (Health & FW), Nido Pavitra in his address, advocated a new integrated approach for implementation of NRHM and other vertical programmes and called for active involvement of DCs, DMOs and DRCHOs in the planning, implementation and monitoring process.

ITANAGAR, Feb 22: Kaushik Bhagowati, the conman who was arrested by the City Police last week had a good time cheating the people of the state. Among his numerous victims is Rode Bui, a politician.
Kaushik who managed to pass off as an IPS officer working as an Additional Director with CBI literally looted Rs Ten lacs from Bui on the pretext that he would have the elections dates postponed. Bui whose nomination papers to contest the Legislative Assembly was rejected had approached the High Court. While he was at the middle of it, entered Bhagowati at the scene with a promise to get the dates of election extended. Bui’s relatives without checking the credentials of the fraudster paid him Rs Ten lacs in two installments.
When the extension did not take place, the relatives asked the money back from him. After repeated requests, Bhagwati agreed to pay back and even handed over two cheques to the aggrieved. But the cheques bounced.
Left with no alterative, Bui filed an FIR at the Itanagar Police Station which managed to arrest him.
Bui has further appealed the state govt to endorse the case to crime Branch as he feels that there is larger group operating in the region.
Meanwhile Bui Youth Welfare Society has congratulated Itanagar Police for arrest of Bhagowati. It further called for stringent criminal and legal action against him so that such cases are not repeated in future.
UAEA, RGUSU condemns assault on media person
ITANAGAR, Feb 22: Unemployed Arunachalee Engineers Association has demanded legal action against the culprit involved in the assault of Reporter of this daily Taba Ajum. On Feb 20 Ajum was assaulted by Security Officer of Town Magistrate Talo Potom while he was taking pictures of a dharna at IG Park which was organized by the Association demanding fair recruitment and end to corruption.
Association has further called on citizens to support its cause against corruption and illegal recruitments.
Rajiv Gandhi University Students Union has also condemned the assault. It said that people of the state should learn to respect media persons. It said that repeated assault on media persons are a deterrent to peaceful working atmosphere.

Under the banner of Rajiv Gandhi University Student’s Union (RGUSU) students boycotted classes and converged near administrative block holding placards, banners and shouting slogan against university authorities. This is the first phase of their proposed four phase agitation. These students were all at lost to understand why despite being sole university of state they are not being provided basic facilities. “Though ours is only university of state, we struggle for basic facilities like lack of bus, deficient infrastructures etc,” told one student. He further added, “We had submitted 11 point memorandum to Vice chancellor highlighting the problems faced by students but there has been no action and we are deeply hurt as we look up to him to convey our grievances to higher ups.”

Total sanitation walk marks statehood day
ITANAGAR, Feb 22: The 24th Statehood day’s celebration of Arunachal Pradesh at Khonsa on Feb 20 was marked by a total Sanitation Walk by the student which was jointly organized by district administration, PHED and Education department. The students took out a procession with banners and placards appealing to the people to be a part of the total sanitation campaign and make the district open defecation free by 2010. It is needless to say that TSC is yet to achieve real success thanks to stagnant mindset of the people and effort must be made by all to change the general mindset of the rural people to accept the modern concept of sanitation in their own interest and in the interest of the whole state. However, TSC has been a great success in lower belt Nocte areas of Tirap district thanks to the initiative taken by some Good Samaritan organizations, asking people to make toilet with pith and keep the pigs in confinement without letting them loose.
The main function of the day was held at Nehru Stadium wherein DC, W.Lowang unfurled the national flag. In his speech Lowang while greeting the people, highlighted the achievements of the state government in the district as well as in the state. Games and sports were conducted to mark the day.

Itanagar, Feb 22: The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) will hold its Plenary Assembly at Don Bosco Institute Guwahati from 24th Feb to March 4.
The meeting will be attended by three Cardinals, 20 Archbishops and 140 Bishops from all over India. The CBCI meets once every two years to give direction to the various activities of the Catholic Church in the country. Kundun Sange Yeshi Archery Competition
TAWANG, Feb 22: The 2nd Kundun Sange Yeshi Archery Competition being held on the auspicious occasion of Losar festival begun on Feb 21 at the premises of Khinmey Gonpa Tawang.
Archery competition is one of the most popular games played by people of Monpa tribe especially during the period of Losar festival in the month of February. The Bow and arrows are made of Bamboo and target is made of a small wooden post measuring about 10/20 cms and is kept about 100 metres away. This game can be played individually or as a team. The game is played in each and every villages of Tawang District.
Since last year onwards, the archery Competition has been organized centrally as Kundun Sange Yeshi Archery Tournament by the organizing committee at Khinmey gonpa. This year altogether 18 teams from various villages are participating for the coveted championship trophy.

Er. R. Choudhary has rendered his valuable services at various capacity and has recently been posted at Roing as an Executive Engineer. Some hooligans entered his official residence on the night of 13th February and manhandled him badly without any provocation or cause.
This incidence has shattered the faith and confidence of entire community in general and engineers in particular. One must understand that, it is because of the dedication and commitment of engineers like Mr. Chaudhary and other belonging to the fraternity that has pulled the Arunachal Pradesh from oblivion only few decades back to a prospering and thriving state with its immense potentials to reckon with.
However, I do acknowledge the fact that there may be clash of interests and disagreements among the parties involved while executing the developmental works, but there are valid means and ways to lodge the complaints if any. Unfortunately, it has been observed in the recent times that, in Arunachal Pradesh some people are resorting to unethical practices and are trying to hold the entire system to ransom.
Engineers have become an easy and soft target for these hooligans and at some times are bound to act according to their whims and fancies. It’s high time that Govt and people should act fast to check this menace and inculcate the work culture and professionalism among the masses.
Peace and sense of personal security is must for an officer to perform to best of his/her capabilities.
Once again I strongly condemn the ghastly and deplorable incidence and render my all out sympathy and solidarity to Mr. Chaudhary. The government should also look into the matter seriously and the culprits must be punished severely so that it act as deterrent to others in future.

Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to appreciate the Unemployed
Arunachalee Engineers Association for making their voices heard through peaceful
dharnas. As the police and capital administration didn’t allow them, they have sent
a positive message to the people about rising corruption and illegal appointments.
Other organisations and Unions should take cue from them that there are right and
decent ways of protesting the government’s wrong policies without harassing the common
public. Unemployment today has become one of the major problems of the Arunachalee
society. The state government has to create more jobs by taking a strong approach.
What happened to the MoU's signed between the state government and the various power
developers?? The govt. should ensure that these companies provide 70% jobs be it
technical or non-
It’s not only the govt. to blame. We should blame ourselves too. Why only government jobs? Why are people not willing to work outside the state or in various PSU's or private companies?
I would like to condemn the harassment of journalist Taba Ajum of The Arunachal Times by the police personnel on Statehood day. Media is the fourth pillar of democracy. The govt. should ensure that this kind of incident should not happen again.

In the recent past education department had appointed large number of teachers on officiating basis violating recruitment rules. This is one of the causes that led to the deterioration of the present educational scenario in our state.
But this time, we, on behalf of unemployed youths of the state earnestly request
concerned authority to spare left-
As we all know that qualitative and quantitative teacher is the determining factor for progress and development of educational system in the society. Hence, we should not compromise on education and more so on quality education. As elementary education has already become fundamental rights, we must strive by all means to give a holistic education in our state.
We want no political involvement and no money game this time. We sincerely expect transparency until final stage of recruitment process is over. Let best people serve the state for better future.

Dear Editor,
On Feb 9 last at around 11 am I responded politely to a call came from a number which I realized later that it was a call from the best service provider the BSNL.
Neither I requested for any subscription nor did I press any button as it was murmuring ridiculously. To my utter surprise, after a few second one message came thanking me for subscription for ‘Sayaris’ . The message also read ‘send unsub sayaris to 53030 if you do not want, charge Rs 2 per sms’. I had to unsubscribe it immediately as I did not want any ‘sayari’ from BSNL.
Does receiving a call mean subscription, then why the authorities made unsolicited call? Making unsolicited call is a breach of personal liberty and also an offence.
Moreover, the BSNL has been charging the highest call rate as compare to any other mobile service provider. I request the BSNL authorities not to adopt various tactics and do not make unsolicited call to exploit the innocent public.
